If you'd like to purchase one of my paintings as an artprint, you can choose from two different types of prints: giclée prints and ‘normal’ prints. The image on them is the same but they differ in appearance, feel, and use. In this blog, I'd be happy to explain what that means, so you can choose what suits your home and taste.
‘Normal’ prints (found in this webshop): accessible and sleek
The 'normal' prints are printed differently than giclée prints and have a clear, fresh look. They are perfect if you mainly want to experience my work at home, without it having to feel very 'art-like' or exclusive.
These prints are a good fit if you:
-
are looking for a beautiful print at an affordable price
-
like to change things up or hang up multiple works
-
might not want to frame the work (immediately)
- Only available in A4 size
Standard prints are only available in A4 size; if you want a different size, you'll automatically have to choose for a Giclée print.
Giclée prints (you can find them at estherbenninkgallery.com): for anyone who truly want to experience the work as art
A giclée print comes closest to how I see my own work. The colors are rich and soft and small details remain clearly visible due to the use of multiple ink colors. These prints are made on sturdy, beautiful 'fine art' paper that you can really feel when you hold it.
Giclée prints are ideal if you:
-
want to frame the work and give it a permanent place in your home
-
love a warm, serene look
-
value material and finish
-
are looking for a print that feels like an art object
- are looking for another size than A4
Many people choose a giclée print for places they look at often: the living room, bedroom, or workspace.
The main difference is how the artwork feels
Even though the image is the same, there is a difference between the two types of print. The main difference is how the print feels and how it works in your home.
A giclée print often feels calmer and more refined; it feels like 'real art,' while a regular print is light and direct.
Both are lovely and cosy. It depends on how you want to experience my work in your home and what size you're looking for!
Are you not sure what to pick?
I completely understand and it is often a matter of taste. As an artist, I can say that I value the 'museum quality' of giclée prints more. But that might be entirely different for you!
Where can I find them?
Standard prints can be found here in the collection 'on the wall'
Giclée prints can be found on a different website: estherbenninkgallery.com
