What cosiness can bring you

cosy living

Coziness has so many benefits. Whether it's creating feelings of warmth and safety, taking care of yourself, or fostering self-acceptance, it all comes down to a cozy lifestyle. And besides, it's simply wonderful to enjoy, of course!

Cosiness is a way of life

It's one of my favorite quotes, and I dare say it's my life motto. But what does all that cosine mean to me? I'll share my personal experience with you.

Warmth and feelings of safety

With PTSD, there's nothing more comforting than feeling safe, of course. But without PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), you also need safety. We easily overexert ourselves, which can unconsciously trigger feelings of insecurity. Coziness can truly be an anchor of safety and warmth. Just doing nothing, snuggled under a blanket, with a warm cup of tea and a book that makes you happy. Completely warm and cozy in your own bubble.

Good self-care and gentleness for yourself

Cosiness makes me aware of being gentle and taking good care of myself. It makes me ask myself, "What do I need right now?" Not only that, but it also makes me put in a little more effort to make things cozy (which is nicer for me). Where I would previously think, "I won't light those candles because they'll have to go out soon anyway," I now consciously choose to light them. Or you probably know this one too: "I'll just use cold water, it's easier than making tea." It's wonderful to make that extra effort to take good care of yourself; you deserve it!

Enjoy all the little things

Tea, candles, blossoms, a beautiful view, or a wonderful book. Cosiness allows me to truly appreciate the little things. Things I tend to overlook in my thoughts now receive attention and create a wonderfully relaxing moment or a smile on my face. It also gives me a much more positive outlook on life; I'm less influenced by (negative) thoughts and focus more on the little things!

Self-acceptance

Yes, really, since I started living my cozy lifestyle, I've accepted myself much more. I'm now completely comfortable with being an introvert who loves coziness and everything that comes with it. I used to be ashamed of it sometimes—not mature enough, not effective enough, not useful enough (I had plenty of excuses). But I wouldn't want to be without it anymore; it's also the side of me that inspires my work. All my illustrations stem from coziness!

Are you already in the mood to get cozy and snug? Great! Enjoy, and who knows what it will bring! Need more inspiration? Check out the illustrations I created below—super cozy!
