Cosiness and my world burnout

I'm experiencing a world of burnout. I can almost hear you thinking, "What?" I'll explain it all in this blog post. Don't worry, it's not a complaint, because I love focusing on things that help and make you feel good. Cosiness is exactly what does that.

I have a world burnout

Lately, I've increasingly felt like the world has gone mad. Wars, dictatorships, deforestation, victorious Western leaders with crazy haircuts, climate change, refugees, hunger, death, disaster after disaster... And I feel powerless. I used to be a militant force, I saw bright spots everywhere and supported all the good in the world. But over the past few years, I've lost that feeling. I feel numb and sometimes even start to doubt my own beliefs, because it seems like the whole world is participating in all the madness, right?

How do I survive in this world?

It's a question that's been on my mind a lot lately. I tend to withdraw. Just let me live my own life and focus on myself. I think it's a really good strategy, because you're probably familiar with the "circle of influence." You have influence over your own thoughts, behavior, and the choices you can make. Everything outside that circle (including all the misery in the world) is beyond your control.

Of course, it's not so black and white. I'm very consciously aware of the environmental impact of every product I make, and I make the most conscious choices possible. Within your circle of influence, you can influence the big things, of course! But you have virtually no influence on the misery of the entire world (everything on the six o'clock news, for example). So if I let go of that and focus on my own life, on how I can make the world a little more beautiful, the world burnout will disappear for a while. Great!

Cosiness is my superpower

We don't all have to be or become activists. I don't need to use my reach, for example on Instagram, to urge everyone to do or not do something. That doesn't suit me; I prefer to focus on a different way of contributing. For me, that's sharing coziness.

First and foremost, coziness is my own medicine. The self-care, softness, coziness, safety, and security it brings change my outlook on life. More gentle, more understanding, and more peaceful. It allows me to feel safe even when all hell breaks loose in the world.

It gives me a moment of calm where I can reconnect with myself. We're often so busy with others, problems, or simply work or children, that a moment of peace is sometimes lacking. And it's precisely those moments that allow you to recharge.

When you're recharged and feel safe, you can take steps forward in life. For some, it might be to take action, for others, to use coziness as a superpower and spread it as much as possible.

Practical cosiness

Okay, this blog is getting a bit philosophical. Time to get practical!

So, how do you live that cozy life? I believe it's different for everyone. You might find joy in reading a book, while someone else prefers to meditate. But whatever you do, make sure you put in a little extra effort for yourself. Light a candle, make a fresh cup of tea, treat yourself, put your phone away, and truly create a moment of self-care.

This afternoon I've planned a cozy moment. I've been looking forward to it all day. I'm going to continue reading my guilty pleasure series "The Little House" (the long winter!), make a cup of my favorite tea, light a few candles, and swap my jeans for pajama pants. I might swap the book for my journal, pull out a card for inspiration, or do some knitting on my project. It's all about making an extra effort to make myself comfortable, taking and creating time to be with myself and feel. Space to catch my breath and let the world burnout melt away!

What will be your cozy moment today?
