My cheeks are getting chilly, my hands a touch cold and my hair is blowing in all directions. It's autumn! As far as I am concerned, autumn is the season to be outdoors. In this blog, I take you through my favourite autumn outdoor moments, just because being outside can be so cosy!
Going with the rhythm of the trees
I love experiencing the seasons consciously. Autumn represents change, but also letting go. The colouring of the trees, the eventual dropping of all the leaves. The animals preparing for winter and birds migrating away to warmer places. Sounds familiar, of course, but are you really 'experiencing' it?
There is so much to see and notice when you walk outside. Do you see the geese crossing? Do you see that tree from your window changing colour a little more every day? Have you thought about the wonder of the mushrooms you can see everywhere now?
You can find me in the woods a few times every week, walking slowly and consciously enjoying everything around me. Despite being low on energy, this energises me!
Autumn is still here, but it is also fleeting. So enjoy it a little longer, but 'for real'!
One last campfire
Slowly, autumn is pulling us indoors, but with a little effort, it can still be lovely outside. Thick jumper on, a last campfire and a hot cup of tea in hand. Or how about that one moment when the sun shines? It's customary to crawl inside on the sofa, but what if you put on your coat and drink your cup of tea in the sun?
I always think: winter will keep us indoors long enough. So if possible, I consciously try to create moments when I can still be outside and experience the seasons even more consciously!
So... what do you choose?
Exactly, you have a choice! I notice myself that I often forget because of the busyness and rhythm of the day. But I have a choice, I can choose to go outside, I can choose to stare out the window a little longer at that one discoloured tree. Despite the fact that my shop is at its peak (for me) right now, I choose not to let autumn pass by in a blur. I go into the woods alone (with dog Bram, of course) at least once a week, I enjoy fun autumnal indoor moments (read this blog once) and I look around me a bit more consciously. Because autumn is really beautiful. Change, letting go, it's all good; a nice reminder I find myself.
So, what do you do?
